19.0 inch HMI solution with CAN-InterfaceIn Q4, Janz Automationssysteme AG will introduce the emVIEW-19 - a panel PC with 19.0” display size - to the market. Lots of interesting projects affected the decision to make this.
emVIEW-19 - similar to the already available emVIEW-12 and emVIEW-15 systems (with 12.1“ and 15.0“ displays) - is based on the emPC-M controller family. This means extensive and comprehensive support for diverse performance classes: 500 MHz (Geode LX800) up to 1.5 GHz Intel’s Core2Duo technology.
Additionally to the standard PC interfaces like 2 x 10/100 MBit/s Ethernet and 2 x USB (v2.0), 2 x CAN/CANopen interfaces will also be available. Using these interfaces, user have the assurance of operating their machines and installations, controlled directly in field installations with a superior master HMI display.
Performance adequate to the needs - and a balanced software concept selecting from open systems up to IEC 61131-3 SoftSPS-Tool - means that optimal software components can be chosen.

Windows CE 6.0 support for Janz embedded PC systems
Janz Automationssysteme AG announces support for Windows CE 6.0 - the newest version of Microsoft’s embedded operating system - for Janz’s emPC and emVIEW systems. So now Janz customers can benefit from a completely revised kernel with updated system performance, and a new file system, which accommodates large storage media, larger files and encoding for removable media. Software-APIs for integrated CAN and I/O drivers are identical to the older operating system (Version 5.0).
emPC systems are specially designed to be combined with a variety of displays, resulting in a wide range of new emVIEW systems. These emPC systems are suitable for stand-alone, displays embedded operations as well as those needing HMI displays. So this broad-range system concept can fit many installation needs, but using the same controller.
For instance, emPC-MCD/2 is a fan-less controller based on Intel’s CoreDuo technology, which can be combined with a 12.1” touchscreen display. This becomes our emVIEW-12T/MCD2, which represents an ideal PanelPC system with passive cooling and high reliability.
In addition to CoreDuo technology, other process architectures are available and supported, from 500 MHz Geode LX800, 600 MHz Celeron M, and up to 1.4 GHz Pentium M processors. With up to two PCI-Slots and two integrated CAN/CANopen interfaces, emPC embedded systems represent truly versatile controllers for diverse applications.

Janz is proud to present the emVIEWTM series - a versatile HMI family for industrial applications.
emVIEWTM systems are based on the well-known embedded PC emPC-A400 and emPC-M systems. Display (standard with touchscreen) attach directly to the emPC, but systems with or without display are also possible.
12.1” and 15.0” emVIEWTM systems were realized and exactly meet the needs of the customers, as well as emVIEW-6T, which uses a novel 6.5” display with LED backlight. Using emPC-A400 (XSCALE basis), we created a very low-maintencance, low-power unit (approx. 10W). Application areas include Thin Client solutions in plant installations, and very cost-effective controllers for house automation, etc.
emVIEW-8 is scheduled for Q3/2008 availability and is another member of the emVIEWTM family, with an 8.4” display.
emVIEWTM units feature one or two CAN interfaces, so existing networks can easily be accommodated. Other standard interfaces are two 10/100 MBit/s Ethernet ports, USB and VGA. These units also feature CompactFlash Card capability, but it is also possible to specify a 2.5 inch hard disk.
Operating system support ranges from Windows XP/XPe, Windows CE to Linux and RTAI.
