CANbus Controller Runs Cool

Weighing less than a pound, the CANminiBOX compact CANbus embedded controller from Saelig has a power consumption of less than 6 W, enabling the unit to operate with passive cooling. Based on an AMD Élan 133MHz SC520 processor, the controller has front-panel availability for 10/100MBit/s Ethernet, status LED’s, an RS232 serial port, a CAN port, and one USB1.1 port.

Compact CAN Controller Needs No Cooling Fan

Based on the AMD Elan 133-MHz SC520 processor, the CANminiBOX is a versatile, compact controller that is well-suited for embedded CANbus applications. The 128 Mbytes of SD-RAM is sufficient to control the pre-installed Linux OS, while a 512-Mbyte CompactFlash card can easily be upgraded. Other OSes, such as QNX and VxWorks, are also available.

Compact CANminiBOX(TM) weighs less than 1 lb and features AMD Élan 133 MHz SC520 processor with 128 MB internal SD-RAM and 512 MB SD-RAM CompactFlash. It offers front-panel availability for 10/100 MBit/sec Ethernet, status LED's, RS232 serial port, CAN port, and one USB 1.1 port. Using 10-28 Vdc power, unit operates within ambient temperatures of 0 to +50°C and features 2 kV ESD protection on all inputs. DIN-rail mounted unit consumes less than 6 W and measures 3 x 2 x 4.7 in.

Saelig introduces CANminiBOX CANbus controller

Saelig announced CANminiBOX, a versatile, compact embedded controller that is particularly well-suited for embedded CANbus control applications. Units incorporate high-reliability components, with a wide variety of hardware and software options also available in the tiny Elan-based CANminiBOX. The product’s 128 MB SD-RAM capacity is sufficient to control the pre-installed Linux OS (other options available), while a 512 MB CompactFlash card storage can easily be upgraded. CANminiBOX also offers low power consumption (less than 6W), ensuring the reliability of passive cooling. DIN-rail mounted units can be placed almost anywhere, even in the tightest locations, due to its remarkably small dimensions: 3” x 2” x 4.7”.
